A workshop facilitated by Dan Meyer addressing why we assign application problems, why students hate them, and what we can do about it. We're bringing 75 math teachers into a workshop and leaving six hours later with a strong understanding of perplexing curriculum design and mathematical storytelling.

The Ticket Roll. How do we turn the world outside the math classroom into a math problem that's both fun and challenging, not boring and easy?

Hook Finding. What's the first, easiest step for adapting your existing curriculum for student challenge and engagement?

Three-Act Math. In what ways does a good math problem resemble a good story?

Perplexing Application Problems. How does paper distort mathematical problem solving and how can digital media correct the distortion?

Interesting to Challenging. How do you generate engaging and challenging curriculum from the math you encounter in your own life?

Pseudoproblems. How do we identify the sickness and administer the antidote?

Technique. What technology and tools are essential for designing perplexing math application problems?
